Bubble Painting

Adventures in bubbles

What do you need?
  • Child friendly and washable paint
  • Paper
  • A small bowl
  • Washing up liquid
  • Three low mugs or teacups
  • Four straws

As with any activity, they will need an adult to help them

  • How many can do this?
  • Will suit what age?
  • How long does the fun last?

Give the child a sense of achievement as they produce a bubbly masterpiece in this simple and fun activity.

Step 1
Step 1

Set yourself up with your bowl and three cups. Squeeze a good squirt of paint and an equal squirt of washing-up liquid into each cup and bowl. Put a straw in each and then encourage the children to use the straw to mix the paint and washing-up liquid together.

Step 2
Step 2

Next, to avoid ingestion, a grown-up needs to blow into the straw in the bowl. You want to create a lot of bubbles so that they start tumbling over the top.

Step 3
Step 3

Once bubbles are at the top, encourage your child to place a piece of paper over the top and hold it gently in place without moving it. Next, lift up the piece of paper and check out your bubble art.

Step 4
Step 4

You can now overlay other coloured circles by repeating the process and placing the picture over the other cups. Once done, leave it somewhere flat to dry, before hanging their masterpiece on the wall.
