Make your own nature display
Collect and display your nature finds for everyone else to enjoy
A wonderful way to encourage children to get outside to learn and celebrate the natural world beyond their window.
Step 1Get the kids to choose your designated nature table and position it somewhere where everyone can enjoy their collections and favourite finds. If you’re struggling to find room in your house to show off the nature display, choose an area in your garden or on your window ledge instead.
Step 2Collect old jam jars or similar transparent pots to display items in, and position these on the table ready to be filled.
Step 3Go on a mission to hunt out nature’s treasure. A few ideas below:
- Shells displayed in jam jars
- A collection of different tree bark
- Snail shells
- Abandoned bird nests (make sure these are abandoned and empty before you collect them)
- Moss- and lichen-covered sticks
- Pinecones
- Interesting pebbles
Step 4Finally you might want to feature labels and descriptions talking about what you have on display and where you found them.
