Miniature Zip Wire

A novel way to transport toys around the garden or house, and a fantastic way to provide an afternoon of entertainment

What do you need?
  • Two long pieces of rope
  • An old bucket
  • Toys to be transported

As with any activity, they will need an adult to help them.

  • How many can do this?
  • Will suit what age?
  • How long does the fun last?

This is a novel way to transport toys into the garden or down the stairs. It definitely needs an adult to set it up and keep an eye on how it’s being used.

Step 1
Step 1

Decide where you’re going to position your zip wire. If the kids are older (7 or above) you might choose to run it from an upstairs window to the garden. Alternatively you could choose a tree, a downstairs window or a washing line.

Step 2
Step 2

Next prepare your zip wire bucket by tying a rope onto its handle so that it can be run up to the top of the wire again. If the top of your zip wire is at reaching height then you don’t need to worry about this part.

Step 3

To fit the zip wire, you firstly need to securely attach your rope at its highest point. At ground level, hang the bucket on the rope and then choose somewhere safe to attach the bottom of the zip wire close to the ground.

Step 4
Step 4

You’re now ready to give your zip wire a go. Take the bucket up to the highest point and put the Action Man or toy inside. Now let it go; again, and again, and again!
