Re-make yourself

Create another little person and try out a different pretend life

What do you need?
  • Some wallpaper lining paper (you’ll need about 2 metres per child)
  • Paint, pens and other items to decorate
  • Scissors
  • PVA glue
  • An old cardboard box flattened out
  • A broom
  • Strong tape

As with any activity, they will need an adult to help them.

  • How many can do this?
  • Will suit what age?
  • How long does the fun last?

This activity involves drawing around the kids on a piece of lining paper, and then encouraging them to turn the outline into a self-portrait. The creations can then be cut out and stuck on a broom to be run around the house.

Step 1
Step 1

Get the child to lie down on some lining paper and then draw around them in pen.

Step 2
Step 2

Encourage the child to think about who they might like to be, spread out some old newspaper and get creating. Your child might want to re-imagine him or herself as a fireman, a lion or even an astronaut. Whatever inspires them, be creative with what household materials you have to hand and get decorating.

Step 3
Step 3

Now if you want to take the re-imagined child to a whole new life-like level then you need to cut it out, stick it on some cardboard (a flattened box is ideal) and then attach it to a broom with some brown masking tape. Done. He’s ready to join you for lunch.
