Real life snap

A simple game of matching pairs using household objects

What do you need?

A tray and two of different items e.g. matching pens, matching cups, matching spoons or whatever else you can lay your hands on.

As with any activity, they will need an adult to help them.

  • How many can do this?
  • Will suit what age?
  • How long does the fun last?

A wonderful way to engage toddlers in a learning activity and enable them to feel a sense of satisfaction in correctly identifying the pairs.

Step 1
Step 1

On a tray lay out your matching items and mix them up. The idea is to encourage the toddler to pick up two of the same items, and say ‘Snap!’ when they correctly pair them up.

Step 2
Step 2

Show the child the idea of the game and encourage them to have a go themselves. It really is as simple as that.
