Treasure Hunt in the Dark
This can be played in the back garden at night or in a darkened room. Treasure finds are hidden and children have to hunt to find them using torches
A fantastic way to add some evening excitement before kids wind down for bed.
Step 1First choose where to play. If you’re able to be up when it’s dark, then hiding the treasure in a garden offers a real sense of adventure. If however the long summer days mean that it doesn’t get dark until way after bedtime, then a darkened room works just as well.
Step 2Next you need to choose your treasure. This could be as simple as a favourite toy or food. Alternatively you could use a collection of foreign coins, make gold nuggets by spraying kidney beans gold, or treasure coins out of cardboard circles wrapped in tin foil. Once decided, hide your treasure.
Step 3Once set up, give everyone a torch and you’re off. If you don’t have enough torches to go around then encourage people to share.
